POOL SAFETY

Patent Pending |
RailSafe® is an economical way to reduce accidents due to
slippery handrails. It adds traction, and insulates the railing from the heat.
RailSafe® has been tested and is
used by the U.S. Navy to help prevent falls and hand abrasions associated with railings in
wet environments. It is long lasting and durable even when exposed to chlorine. It
provides an excellent grasp when either climbing into or out of the pool.
 |
Slipping can be hazardous. This hazard increases even more in a wet pool environment (when
wet slippery hands meet wet slippery railing). RailSafe®
adds the traction needed to reduce the risk of slipping off these railings.
Rail Safe
â for the pools can be found at:
Kiefer AquaticsÒ
Lincoln Aquaticsâ, and Recreonicsâ

Traction Dots and strips.
 |
These are convenient, easy to apply, and clean. Other traction strips don't stay
in place on uneven surfaces or tiled flooring, and can create more of a hazard and mess.
Other traction strips are also permanent, and once the grit wears down they are
difficult, if not impossible, to remove and replace.
These are not problems for the Traction Dots. They are shaped to be placed on any
surface. They are permanent and don't move, yet are easy to peel up if they
need to be replace (and leaves no residue) |

PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, 79 % of playground injuries
are caused by falls (that number increases to 81% on backyard equipment). Most of these
fall injuries are associated with climbing - 56% of playground injuries (between the ages
of 5 and14 ) occur while climbing.
The National Program for Playground Safety (NNPS)* advocates that adults actively
supervise children, maintain all equipment on a regular basis, and that they provide safe
surfaces on the playground equipment.
| One of the problems with ladders and grab rails on
playground equipment is that the metal can heat to temperatures in excess
of 120 degrees (even on a 70-80 degree day), and can cause severe burns to the hands.
It can also cause a reactionary response from children making them abruptly
pull back and let go, causing them to fall backward. |
 |
RailSafe® can be used to
cover the handrails on ladders, grab rails, monkey bars, and a number of other critical
areas that need traction and insulation. It helps prevent metal from becoming scorching
hot. It also adds friction to the rail, reducing the risk of slipping off the rail when
its wet.
 |
It comes in 10 to 20 foot rolls, that can be
measured and trimmed to fit any and all areas needed. |
VERY LITTLE CLEAN UP!Even beyond the safety aspects, and the ease of installing,
RailSafe® leaves very little clean up work. Just a small
amount of paper backing (as shown). Think of how much time and mess is saved by
using RailSafe rather than painting. |
 |
*Each year, over 200,000 children are injured on playground equipment in the
U.S., (One every 2 1/2 minutes). To address this concern the NNPS was established in 1995 through a
grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
