OFF THE FRONT, Inc.

OFF THE FRONT® has been in the grip business since 1989.  As with many companies, it had it's humble beginnings in a garage in Southern California.  Founded by a couple of want-to-be athletes with the help of a handful of real Olympic Athletes, and some artistic surfers.  The group set out to make a new and improved grip tape for the cycling industry. (At the time the only thing available was black and white foam that broke too easily.)

After a year of experimenting with various materials and inks, a new bartape was born that quickly set new trends in cycling.  Color and graphics became the rage. Within 6 mouths after it's initial launch, the original "California Grip tape" was selling nationally, and turning heads in the cycling world.   (Within a year, Off The Front® grip tape was selling internationally.)

Since then, OFF THE FRONT® has continued to evolve. Developing a new and improved bat tape line; reflective safety grips; grip tapes for tools; a line of safety products, and more.

The world's top athletes rely on OFF THE FRONT® grips to consistently meet their needs.  Our tape products can be seen on World record holders, Olympic athletes, and World Champions (in several sports).

We have always been committed to developing the best grip possible to meet the needs of  our customers and athletes.  We develop products that not only add comfort and increase performance, but also reflects the changing attitudes of athletes and of society.

The name "Off The Front" was selected to identify the philosophy of the company.  "Off The Front" is a cycling term bestowed to the rider that takes a chance to break away from the rest of the pack and lead the race.  With the many award-winning and patented products Off The Front, Inc. has broken away to be a clear leader in grip technology.
